A wedding feast in Athantar village under Remuna police limits in Baleshwar turned violent when four minors allegedly slit the throat of a catering youth for serving chicken instead of mutton.
The incident occurred around 10 pm on June 24. Reports said the catering boy mistakenly served chicken to a guest who had asked for mutton. The error triggered a quarrel that escalated outside the venue. When the youth left the party, four minors chased him and attacked from behind with a sharp weapon, leaving him critically injured.
The victim was rushed to Fakir Mohan Medical College in Baleshwar. Doctors later shifted him to SCB Medical College in Cuttack as his condition worsened. His survival remains uncertain as he continues to battle severe injuries.
Remuna police registered case number 136/26 and launched an investigation. Officers confirmed that all four minors were apprehended and sent to a juvenile correction home in Angul. Police may involve a scientific team to strengthen the probe.
