Rishabh Pant will rejoin Delhi Capitals for Rs 15 crore after two disappointing seasons with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
The trade, finalised on Tuesday, saw Pant take a Rs 12-crore pay cut from the record Rs 27 crore LSG paid for him at the IPL 2025 mega auction.
In exchange, Delhi Capitals’ left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav moves to LSG at his existing salary of Rs 13.50 crore.
Pant, who played 111 matches for Delhi between 2016 and 2024 and captained them in 43 games, struggled to deliver at LSG. Under his leadership, the franchise finished seventh in IPL 2025 and dropped to the bottom of the table in IPL 2026, winning only four of 14 matches. His batting returns were modest, with 269 runs in 2025 and 312 runs in 2026, including just one half-century.
Kuldeep, who joined Delhi from Kolkata Knight Riders in 2022, claimed 72 wickets in 65 matches for the Capitals. However, his 2026 season was underwhelming, with only 10 wickets in 14 matches and an economy rate of 10.30.
The trade reflects LSG’s decision to reset after Pant’s underwhelming stint, while Delhi regains a familiar face who once led their side.
