With an anticipated surge in passenger traffic during the coming week, Indian Railways has decided to temporarily add extra coaches to several long-distance express trains originating from or passing through major stations in Odisha and West Bengal.
The move aims to provide additional berths and improve travel comfort for thousands of passengers heading towards popular destinations like Puri, Charlapalli, and Yelahanka.
According to the official announcement, the following augmentations will be implemented:
- Train No. 12837 Howrah–Puri Express will run with one additional Sleeper Class coach from June 20 to June 26, 2026.
- Train No. 18039 Shalimar–Puri Express will get one extra Sleeper Class coach on June 21, 2026.
- Train No. 18045 Shalimar–Charlapalli East Coast Express will be augmented with one Third AC coach from June 20 to June 26, 2026.

Railway officials stated that these temporary additions will significantly increase seating and sleeping capacity on high-demand routes, helping to accommodate the expected rise in footfall, possibly triggered by holidays, festivals, or seasonal travel.
