Odisha Vigilance on Thursday carried out simultaneous searches at seven locations linked to Satyanarayan Sethy, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of Kotpad Block in Koraput district, following allegations of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The raids were conducted after the Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore, issued search warrants based on a complaint received by the anti-corruption agency.
A large Vigilance team comprising seven Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), nine Inspectors, eleven Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), and supporting staff was deployed to conduct the operation across multiple districts.
Seven Locations Under Vigilance Scanner
Simultaneous searches were launched at properties and locations associated with Sethy in Koraput, Khordha and Kendrapada districts.
The premises being searched include:
- A rented residential house at Parabeda in Jeypore, Koraput district.
- A residential flat (No. G/B.6-14, Ground Floor, Block-B-6, Plot No.132) at Hi-Tech Plaza, Madhipur Mauza, Jatani, Khordha district.
- His parental house at Jahangar village under Derabis police station in Kendrapada district.
- Government residential quarters allotted to him at Kotpad in Koraput district.
- His office chamber at Kotpad Block in Koraput district.
- Two separate farms owned by Sethy at Taragaon under Boriguma Tahasil in Koraput district.
Investigation Underway
According to Vigilance officials, the searches are aimed at verifying allegations that the engineer accumulated assets beyond his legitimate sources of income during his service tenure.
Teams are examining documents, financial records, movable and immovable assets, bank details and other materials that could help determine the extent of wealth allegedly acquired.
Asset Assessment Expected After Searches
Officials said the raids were still underway at the time of filing this report. A comprehensive inventory of documents, valuables, investments and properties identified during the searches will be prepared after the operation concludes.
Further details regarding the value of assets detected and any subsequent legal action are expected once the Vigilance investigation progresses.
The case is being closely monitored as part of Odisha Vigilance’s ongoing efforts to investigate allegations of corruption and ensure accountability among public servants.
