Nandankanan Zoological Park in Odisha will remain open on Monday, June 15, for visitors celebrating Raja Sankranti.
Authorities confirmed that both the zoological and botanical parks will operate on the festival day.
The management revised the weekly closure schedule to accommodate the holiday. Instead of closing on Monday, the parks will remain shut on Tuesday, June 16. Normally, Nandankanan closes every Monday, but when major public holidays fall on that day, the park stays open.
This year, Raja Sankranti coincides with Monday, giving tourists and locals an opportunity to enjoy the zoological and botanical attractions. The announcement aims to inform visitors planning trips during the festive period.
Officials emphasised that the decision ensures smooth access for families and tourists who wish to combine Raja celebrations with a visit to the popular destination. The zoo and botanical garden expect higher footfall as people take advantage of the extended holiday.
