Police in Lahunipara arrested two men for allegedly abducting and raping a minor girl in Sundargarh’s Badapurunapani village.
The incident occurred late on May 28 when the girl and her friend stepped out of their house at midnight.
According to police, the accused Ajay Mundari (25) and Tanmay Munda (27) from the same village intercepted the girls near a closed school. One of the minors managed to escape, but the other was forcibly taken to the school and assaulted.
The victim’s sister and brother-in-law returned home the next day and learned about the crime. They immediately informed family members and lodged a complaint at Lahunipara police station. Acting on the report, police registered a case and launched an investigation.
Officers detained Ajay Mundari on the night of May 29 and arrested Tanmay Munda the following night. Both suspects underwent medical examination before being produced in the Sundargarh POCSO court.
Police confirmed that the investigation continues and assured strict action against those involved.
