Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) initiated the process to introduce electric boats at major tourist destinations across the state.
The corporation issued a tender inviting agencies for the transportation of five catamarans or EV boats under its sustainable tourism plan.
The official notice, released from OTDC’s Panthanivas office in Bhubaneswar, outlined the project’s scope and timeline. The tender seeks agencies to operate EV boats at five selected locations — Kolab, Hirakud, Bhitarkanika, and Barkul — as part of the first phase. The initiative aims to replace diesel-powered boats with eco-friendly electric vessels to reduce pollution and enhance visitor experience.
Officials said the project will strengthen Odisha’s green tourism infrastructure and promote cleaner waterways. The tender specifies a one-month completion period for the initial setup, with bids open online from April 28 to May 19, 2026. The Divisional Manager (HS) of OTDC will oversee the process.
