Thousands of devotees across Odisha gathered at mosques on Thursday morning as Eid-ul-Zuha, also known as Bakrid, was celebrated with religious devotion, community prayers and festive enthusiasm.
From the early hours of the day, people dressed in traditional attire assembled at major mosques in cities including Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to offer special Eid prayers. After the namaz, devotees exchanged greetings and celebrated the festival with family members, friends and neighbours.
Massive Turnout At Mosques Across Odisha
Large gatherings were witnessed at several prominent mosques across the state as special prayer arrangements were made for worshippers. Mosque committees ensured smooth management of crowds by arranging drinking water, shaded areas and other essential facilities.
Families, children and elderly citizens actively participated in the celebrations, creating a festive atmosphere in various localities.
Tight Security Arrangements In Sensitive Areas
To ensure peaceful celebrations, police and local administration deployed extensive security arrangements across Odisha. Armed police personnel were stationed at major mosques and sensitive locations, while patrolling was intensified in crowded areas.
In Cuttack, the Commissionerate Police conducted flag marches ahead of the festival as part of preventive security measures. Surveillance was also strengthened to maintain law and order during the celebrations.
Administration Appeals For Communal Harmony
Officials said all necessary steps had been taken to ensure the smooth and peaceful observance of Eid-ul-Zuha across the state. Authorities appealed to citizens to celebrate responsibly and maintain communal harmony.
