A tense moment between Virat Kohli and Travis Head after the Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Sunrisers Hyderabad IPL clash has gone viral on social media, adding fresh drama to an already fiery encounter.
The high-scoring match saw emotions run high throughout the evening, but it was the post-match interaction between Kohli and Head that grabbed maximum attention online.
As players lined up to shake hands after Sunrisers Hyderabad’s dominant 55-run victory, Travis Head appeared to extend his hand towards Virat Kohli. However, Kohli seemed to walk past the Australian opener without acknowledging the gesture, continuing to greet other SRH players instead.
The incident quickly sparked debate among fans, with clips of the moment circulating widely across social media platforms.
Tension Builds During The Match
The on-field tension between Kohli and Head had already become noticeable during RCB’s massive chase of 256 runs.
A viral clip from the third over showed Kohli gesturing towards Head during an animated exchange. The former RCB captain was seen signalling Head to bowl and teasing him with the “Impact Player” gesture.
Head, who has often featured as an Impact Player this season, remained actively involved in the game after SRH brought in Harshal Patel in place of Salil Arora.
The charged atmosphere continued as RCB struggled under scoreboard pressure during the chase.
Virat Kohli Falls Early In Big Chase
Virat Kohli failed to make a major impact with the bat and was dismissed for just 15 runs during the powerplay.
SRH pacer Sakib Hussain deceived Kohli with a slower delivery, forcing the batter into a mistimed shot that landed safely with Smaran Ravichandran inside the circle.
Later in the innings, Travis Head also contributed with the ball and picked up the wicket of Rajat Patidar in the penultimate over as SRH tightened their grip on the contest.
SRH Batters Dominate RCB Bowlers
Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad delivered a batting masterclass to pile up a mammoth 255 for 4.
Abhishek Sharma gave SRH a blazing start with a 22-ball 56, reaching his fifty in just 20 deliveries. Ishan Kishan followed with an aggressive 79 off 44 balls, while Heinrich Klaasen smashed a powerful 51 from only 24 deliveries.
The trio ensured SRH maintained relentless pressure on the RCB bowling attack throughout the innings.
RCB Still Finish On Top
Despite the heavy defeat, Royal Challengers Bengaluru finished at the top of the IPL points table due to a superior net run rate.
RCB, Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad all ended the league stage with 18 points each, but RCB and GT secured the top two spots based on net run rate advantage.
The result strengthened RCB’s playoff position even as the Kohli-Head confrontation became one of the biggest talking points of the match.
