US authorities revealed that Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi, an Iraqi national linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), plotted to assassinate Ivanka Trump, daughter of President Donald Trump.
Al-Saadi allegedly pledged to kill Ivanka to avenge the death of his mentor, Iranian military chief Qasem Soleimani, who was killed in a US strike in Baghdad six years ago. Reports said he obtained a blueprint of Ivanka’s Florida residence and posted a map online with the chilling caption: “Neither your palaces nor the Secret Service will protect you. Our revenge is a matter of time.”
Entifadh Qanbar, a former Iraqi diplomat in Washington, stated that Al-Saadi openly declared his intent after Soleimani’s death, saying Ivanka must be killed to “burn down the house of Trump.”
Al-Saadi was arrested in Turkey on May 15 and extradited to the United States. The Department of Justice charged him with orchestrating at least 18 attacks and attempted attacks across Europe and North America. These included the firebombing of the Bank of New York Mellon in Amsterdam, the stabbing of two Jewish individuals in London, and a shooting at the US consulate in Toronto.
Investigators described Al-Saadi as a senior figure in Iraq-Iran militant networks and noted his close relationship with Soleimani, whom he considered a father figure. His arrest highlights the continuing global threat posed by IRGC-linked operatives.
