Private sector defence firm Nibe Limited successfully conducted firing trials of its Suryastra rockets at the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, Odisha.
The demonstration included two variants with ranges of 150 km and 300 km.
The 150 km rocket achieved a Circular Error Probable (CEP) of 1.5 metres, while the 300 km variant recorded a CEP of 2 metres. Officials confirmed that the trials were part of a procurement order placed by the Indian Army.
The successful tests provide the Army with a viable deep-strike option, complementing existing surface-to-surface tactical ballistic and cruise missiles. Defence experts noted that integrating long-range rocket artillery units with the Indian Air Force’s offensive counter-air capability will enhance India’s operational strength.
The Suryastra rocket trials mark a significant boost for India’s defence preparedness, showcasing the growing role of private sector firms in advanced weapons development.
