Odisha CM Majhi Downsizes Convoy from 12 to 7 Vehicles

In a powerful display of austerity and solidarity with the nation, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has dramatically reduced his official motorcade from 12 vehicles to just 7, responding directly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for citizens to cut fuel consumption amid the worldwide oil shortage sparked by the ongoing West Asia conflict.

The move is being hailed as a timely and symbolic step towards fuel conservation at a time when global oil prices are soaring, and every litre counts.

Sources close to the Chief Minister’s office confirmed that the previous cavalcade included a full security and support entourage — pilot vehicle, bulletproof SUV, signal jammer, ambulance and other protocol vehicles mandated by intelligence and Commissionerate Police guidelines.

Following the decision, the streamlined motorcade will now comprise only the essential vehicles: pilot vehicle, the Chief Minister’s official car, bulletproof SUV, warning vehicle, fire tender, and ambulance. By halving the fleet, Majhi has not only trimmed fuel costs but also sent a clear message of responsible governance and personal sacrifice.

This initiative is expected to inspire other leaders and citizens across the state to adopt similar cost-cutting measures in their daily lives. In times of crisis, actions speak louder than words — and Odisha’s Chief Minister has just turned the steering wheel towards a more frugal future.
