RCB vs MI IPL 2026: MI Post 166/7 as Tilak Varma Shines | RCB Chase 167

Tilak Varma's fiery 57 and N. Dhir's gritty 47 go in vain as B. Kumar's 4/23 restricts MI to 166/7; RCB chase 167

The Mumbai Indians showed plenty of fight, but the Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s disciplined bowling attack stole the show as MI were restricted to 166/7 in their 20 overs during the high-stakes TATA IPL 2026 clash on Sunday.

With the innings break now in effect, RCB head into the second innings needing just 167 runs to claim two crucial league points and keep their playoff hopes alive in what is shaping up to be a classic rivalry contest.

MI’s top order struggled early, but a determined middle-order revival changed the complexion of the innings. Tilak Varma led the charge with a classy 57 off 42 balls, blending elegant drives and calculated big hits to keep the scoreboard ticking. Naman Dhir provided excellent support, smashing 47 off just 32 deliveries in a gritty knock that frustrated the RCB bowlers and kept MI in the contest.

Yet, it was RCB’s bowling that ultimately dictated terms. Veteran pacer B. Kumar was the standout performer, picking up a sensational 4/23 that broke multiple partnerships and ensured MI never truly got away. His variations in the middle and death overs were clinical, exposing the visitors’ lower order and preventing them from pushing towards a more daunting 180-plus total.

The graphic shared by the official IPL account captured the moment perfectly: two MI batters fist-bumping in defiance, yet the scoreboard told the real story—166/7, a total that looks chaseable on most pitches but carries danger if RCB lose early wickets.

As the sun sets on what promises to be an electric evening, all eyes turn to RCB’s batting lineup. With the crowd roaring and momentum firmly in their corner, the home side will be eyeing a clinical chase. Can MI’s bowlers produce magic under the lights, or will RCB seal the deal and move closer to the top of the table?

The second innings is underway—cricket fans, this one is far from over!
