In a significant boost to the district’s justice delivery system, the second National Lok Adalat of the year was successfully organised by the Khordha District Legal Services Authority across all judicial and revenue courts in Bhubaneswar, Khordha, Banpur, Chilika, Tangi, Begunia, and Jatni.

Out of 73,329 cases brought before the Lok Adalat, as many as 40,236 cases were amicably disposed of on the spot. The resolutions resulted in the recovery and settlement of Rs 8,84,83,650 through revenue, fines, and signed compromises.

The one-day camp handled a wide spectrum of matters, including compoundable criminal cases, cheque bounce disputes, bank recovery proceedings, motor vehicle accident claims, labour disputes, traffic challans, public utility issues, matrimonial cases (excluding divorce), land acquisition matters, revenue and civil suits, bank loan defaults, telephone and electricity bill disputes, as well as several pre-litigation cases.

District & Sessions Judge and Chairman of the Khordha District Legal Services Authority, Biranchi Narayan Mohanty, congratulated all judicial officers, revenue officials, regional bank managers, telecom and insurance officers for their coordinated efforts that made the Lok Adalat a grand success. He also extended heartfelt appreciation to the lawyers who actively participated and urged everyone to begin preparations for the next National Lok Adalat with even greater zeal.

Secretary of the Authority, Salomi Sahu, was present throughout the proceedings and thanked court staff and other functionaries for their invaluable support and dedication.

The Lok Adalat once again proved to be a powerful platform for people-friendly, speedy, and cost-effective justice, reducing the burden on regular courts while bringing relief to thousands of litigants.
