Odisha Deputy CM Inaugurates New TPNODL Substation in Mayurbhanj to Power 15K+ Families

In a significant move to fortify rural electrification, TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL), a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, has commissioned a new 33/11 KV 10MVA Primary Substation at Deuli, Mayurbhanj.


The facility was virtually inaugurated by Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, marking a major milestone in the region’s infrastructure development.

The new substation is set to transform the power landscape for over 15,000 families across six Panchayats: Chuhata, Kanimahuli, Nuagaon, Jhaliamara, Alakuda, and Deuli.

This will benefit in enhancing Voltage Quality, Stable power for household and agricultural use, Significant reduction in power interruptions, and Support for local education, healthcare, and livelihoods.

During the virtual ceremony, Deputy CM Singh Deo emphasised that the grid enhancement is a gateway to modern energy solutions.

This substation does more than strengthen the local grid; it empowers households to embrace sustainable solutions, said Dy CM Singh Deo. I encourage consumers to leverage the PM Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana to reduce costs and promote clean energy across the state.

Dr Krushna Chandra Mohapatra, Minister of Housing & Urban Development, highlighted that reliable electricity acts as the backbone of rural development, directly impacting the quality of life in Mayurbhanj.

Mr. Gajanan Kale CEO, TPNODL, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to consumer welfare, stating that the Deuli project is a strategic step in meeting the region’s rising energy demands.

The project was overseen by senior TPNODL officials, including Pradeep Kumar Mohanty, Chief Projects and Debadatta Panda, Superintending Engineer, who ensured the facility met the highest standards for stabilising the regional network.
