The Odisha Assembly revealed striking data on voter list revision. Officials confirmed that 7,68,521 names were deleted during the correction process, exposing widespread duplication and irregularities.
Election authorities said 1,55,318 individuals held voter ID cards in multiple locations. The revision aimed to clean the rolls and ensure transparency. Between December 6 last year and March 22 this year, 2,03,396 voters were removed due to death, 4,08,132 due to migration, and 2,646 for other reasons.
During the same period, 5,67,034 new applications were filed to add names to the voter list. Sundargarh district recorded the highest deletions with 1,44,726 voters removed, followed by Cuttack with 74,881, Ganjam with 47,989, Angul with 37,927, and Puri with 36,679.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi shared the figures in response to a question raised by Athgarh MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain. He said the revision process made the voter list more accurate and credible.
