A blaze broke out at a restaurant inside a market complex in Bhubaneswar’s Jagamara area on Friday morning, triggering panic among nearby shopkeepers.
The fire reportedly started from a traditional wood-fired stove used for cooking inside the restaurant. Preliminary findings suggest negligence in handling the stove may have caused the incident.
Fire services personnel from Tamando Fire Station responded swiftly after receiving the alert. Two fire tenders and 14 firefighters reached the site and worked to contain the blaze. Their timely action prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent shops and offices within the market complex.
The market houses several commercial establishments in close proximity, raising fears of a larger mishap. Firefighters acted quickly and brought the situation under control, averting further damage.
No casualties have been reported so far. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire and assess safety measures in the complex.
