The festival of Ram Navami was celebrated with deep devotion and spiritual enthusiasm across India on Friday, with Odisha witnessing a remarkable surge in temple visits and religious activities.

Marking the birth anniversary of Lord Rama, revered as Maryada Purushottam, the day brought together people from diverse communities in a shared expression of faith, prayer, and cultural unity.

Devotional Atmosphere Across Odisha

Cities and towns across Odisha resonated with chants of “Jai Shri Ram,” creating a spiritually uplifting environment. Temples dedicated to Lord Ram were decorated with flowers and lights, drawing large crowds of devotees throughout the day.

Religious activities such as bhajans, kirtans, and recitations of sacred texts like the Ramcharitmanas were organized, fostering a sense of peace and devotion among participants.

Grand Celebrations in Ayodhya

In Ayodhya, believed to be the birthplace of Lord Ram, celebrations reached a grand scale. Lakhs of pilgrims gathered to witness the divine rituals at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple.

A key highlight was the sacred Surya Tilak ceremony, where sunlight is precisely directed onto the idol of Ram Lalla at noon, symbolizing divine blessings. This unique ritual remains one of the most awaited moments of the festival each year.

Special Rituals at Puri Jagannath Temple

At the revered Jagannath Temple, special rituals were conducted to mark the occasion. The Sri Ram Janma Niti ritual was performed following the Madhyana Dhupa Bhoga.

To facilitate these ceremonies, public darshan was temporarily suspended for five hours, from 5 PM to 10 PM, ensuring the smooth conduct of traditional practices.

A Festival of Unity and Values

Ram Navami continues to symbolize the triumph of righteousness, duty, and moral values. The festival serves as a unifying force, bringing people together in celebration of shared cultural and spiritual heritage.

Across Odisha and the rest of India, the occasion once again highlighted the enduring relevance of Lord Ram’s ideals in modern society.
