Balasore witnessed a gruesome incident on Tuesday morning when locals discovered a man lying in a pool of blood near Sai Mandir Lane on Station Road.
The victim, estimated to be around 40 years old, had deep injuries on his neck, chest, and abdomen inflicted by sharp weapons.
Residents spotted the severely injured man between 5:00 and 5:15 a.m. and immediately alerted police and emergency services. He was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in an 108 ambulance, where doctors declared him dead.
The identity of the victim remains unknown. Investigators suspect he may have arrived by train shortly before the attack. Whether the assault occurred at the scene or elsewhere before the body was dumped is still under investigation.
Sahadevkhunta police reached the spot and began collecting evidence. Officers are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to trace the sequence of events. The possibility of the victim being a local or an outsider has not yet been confirmed.
