TVK chief Vijay election violation

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) general secretary Aadhav Arjuna revealed that party leader Vijay was offered the chief minister’s post and fifty per cent of Assembly seats by a political party ahead of the April 23 election.

He said Vijay declined the proposal, stressing that he sought the trust of Tamil Nadu people rather than power.

Arjuna explained that the offer included a 50:50 seat-sharing arrangement and the CM post for two-and-a-half years. He did not name the party that made the proposal. He added that Vijay rejected offers ranging from 50 to 90 seats, reiterating his commitment to building TVK independently.

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami recently stated that his party had no alliance talks with TVK. BJP state chief Nainar Nagenthran supported Palaniswami’s stance, though speculation suggested attempts by BJP sources to negotiate with TVK to challenge the ruling DMK.

Addressing a meeting in Kolathur, Arjuna said, “Vijay is not a person who will succumb to Delhi for the sake of the chief minister’s post. He wants the trust of Tamil Nadu people.” He emphasised that TVK will contest all 234 constituencies and form a secular social justice government. He also conveyed a message of inclusivity to Christian and Muslim communities.

With its electoral debut approaching, TVK positions itself as a strong force determined to contest independently. Arjuna’s remarks underline the party’s refusal to compromise its principles for political gain.
