In preparation for the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 program, the Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) organised a detailed presentation at the media centre, focusing on the mapping process involving the 2002 voter list as a baseline.

Presiding over the conference, Chief Electoral Officer R S Gopalan explained that, in accordance with directives from the Election Commission of India, the 2002 voter list will serve as the foundational reference for mapping with the 2025 voter list. This initiative aims to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness in the electoral rolls ahead of SIR-2026.

During the mapping process, key voter details such as name, relative’s name, age or date of birth, polling station, part number, and EPIC (Elector’s Photo Identity Card) information will be cross-verified. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will provide on-ground support, while voters can access and verify their information through the ECINET portal, Voter Services Portal, CEO Odisha website, and the ECINET mobile app.

Citizens are urged to check their names in both the 2025 and 2002 voter lists and submit relevant details to the BLOs. If a voter’s name is not found in the 2002 list, they can provide their parents’ details for mapping. In cases where neither the voter’s nor the parents’ names are available, grandparents’ information can be used.

Gopalan clarified that no documents or Aadhaar cards are required for this mapping exercise. Once SIR-2026 commences, name registrations will follow the prescribed procedures.

The press conference was attended by Additional CEO Sushant Kumar Mishra, Joint CEO Shri Gopinath Kuanr, Deputy CEO Dr Laxmi Prasad Sahu, among others.

This mapping effort, which also incorporates the 2005 voter list, underscores the Election Commission’s commitment to maintaining an updated and error-free electoral database for fair and transparent elections.
