In Assam, the NDA alliance has fielded three candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.
BJP ministers Jogen Mohan and Terash Gowala, along with United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) chief Pramod Boro, submitted their nomination papers in Guwahati.
The BJP-UPPL combine had ruled the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) until late last year before being ousted by the Bodoland People’s Front. Boro, a student leader-turned-politician, previously served as the Chief Executive Member of the BTC, which administers five districts in western and northern Assam.
The trio is expected to win uncontested as the Opposition has not announced any candidates. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, BJP national vice president Baijayant Panda, and other senior leaders accompanied them during the filing.
Pramod Boro expressed his commitment to represent the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and Assam in Parliament. Posting on X, he said, “Filed my nomination for Rajya Sabha today. With the blessings of all, looking forward to being a strong voice for BTR and Assam in the Upper House of our nation’s Parliament.”
