Odisha is experiencing an early surge in temperatures ahead of the peak summer season, with several districts already recording above-normal readings. The unexpected rise in mercury levels has prompt

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, no active weather system is currently affecting the state. As a result, dry weather conditions are expected to continue over the coming days, potentially intensifying the heat further.
Jharsuguda Emerges as the Hottest Location
On Friday, Jharsuguda recorded a maximum temperature of 37°C, which is three degrees above the seasonal average. At least six locations across Odisha reported temperatures exceeding 35°C, indicating a broader warming trend across the region.
Meteorological officials noted that the early temperature spike has occurred even before the formal onset of summer, highlighting an accelerated seasonal shift.
IMD Forecasts Further Rise Next Week
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast an additional increase of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in the coming week if prevailing dry conditions persist. In the absence of significant atmospheric disturbances, heat levels are likely to intensify gradually.
