Authorities in Sambalpur district are investigating a disturbing case involving a 14-year-old girl with disabilities from Gobindpur under Bamra block.
The girl, who is hearing and speech impaired and has developmental challenges, was found to be pregnant during a medical examination. Her parents noticed physical changes and took her for a check-up, where doctors confirmed she is about four months pregnant. Shocked by the revelation, the family lodged a formal complaint at the Gobindpur police station.
Police registered a case under POCSO and rape charges on Thursday evening. SI Firoz Ekka has been assigned to lead the investigation. Officials stated that efforts are underway to identify those responsible for the crime.
The incident has left the local community stunned. Residents expressed outrage and demanded strict action against the perpetrators. Many also called for stronger safeguards to protect vulnerable children, especially those with disabilities.
