Security forces seized Rs 2.69 lakh and 19 foreign currency notes at Dungripali Railway Station in Sonepur after a suspicious youth abandoned his bag and fled.
RPF Havildar noticed the youth sitting with a bag and questioned him about its contents. The youth immediately left the bag behind and escaped from the station. Officers opened the bag and discovered cash amounting to Rs 2.69 lakh along with 19 foreign notes from countries including the UAE, Malaysia, China, and Thailand.
Authorities launched an investigation to identify the youth and determine why he carried such a large amount of cash and foreign currency. The seizure raised serious questions about possible illegal activities or smuggling operations.
Police confirmed that the money and notes have been taken into custody. Officials are examining the source of the funds and the purpose behind carrying multiple foreign currencies. Investigators are also checking whether the incident links to larger networks of financial crime.
