The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has announced a novel admission pathway for undergraduate programs, aiming to recognize and reward students who have excelled in national and international Olympiads.
This initiative, termed Science Olympiad Excellence (ScOpE), will allow these exceptional students to secure seats without the need for a JEE (Advanced) score.
Starting from the 2025-26 academic session, IIT Madras will allocate two supernumerary seats per course under this scheme, with one seat specifically reserved for female applicants. “The biggest puzzles of the world are solved not by repeating textbooks, but by those with the courage to break them piece by piece, and build miracles for the upcoming generations,” emphasized IIT Madras Director V Kamakoti.
The qualification criteria for ScOpE are aligned with those for JEE (Advanced), and applicants must be Indian nationals or holders of OCI/PIO cards. Admissions will be based on a ScOpE Rank List, derived from performance in five Olympiads: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Informatics, and Biology.
Applications for the first batch will open on June 3, 2025, via a dedicated portal (jeeadv.iitm.ac.in/scope).
