A heartbreaking accident unfolded in the capital city of Odisha when a wall collapsed during ongoing drain construction work in the Badagada Bhoisahi area, leading to the deaths of two workers and leaving four others in critical condition.
The incident occurred while labourers were actively involved in the drainage project. According to reports, one worker was killed instantly after being buried under the debris, while the second victim passed away during treatment at Capital Hospital. The four injured workers were rushed to the same facility, where they remain under intensive care.
Eyewitnesses described chaotic scenes as the wall suddenly gave way, trapping multiple individuals. Local residents quickly gathered at the site, voicing outrage over apparent lapses in safety protocols.
Concerns have been raised about the absence of essential protective measures, such as helmets, boots, and proper site reinforcements, especially given the nature of excavation work in urban areas.
