A shocking double murder case unfolded in Koraput district as police recovered the bodies of a woman and her teenage son two days after they went missing from Dasari Sahi in Borigumma.
The victims were identified as 45‑year‑old Anushka Parida and her 13‑year‑old son. Anushka’s brother, Satyaban Patra, had lodged a complaint at Borigumma Police Station on February 21 after their disappearance.
On Tuesday morning, locals spotted a sack floating in a canal under Kotpad police limits near Andaramunda. Authorities recovered the decomposed body of the boy inside. Later, Anushka’s body was found in the Jayant Giri canal.
Satyaban alleged that the murders were committed by his minor niece and her boyfriend due to family opposition to their relationship. He filed a fresh complaint accusing the duo of involvement.
Police detained both the minor girl and her male friend for questioning. Investigators are probing the exact cause of death and examining evidence to confirm the allegations.
