A massive fire broke out at a supermarket near Lingipur in the Dhauli area of Bhubaneswar last night, destroying properties worth lakhs of rupees.
The blaze started on the third floor of the supermarket around 10 pm. Flames quickly spread across the floor and consumed goods stored inside. Locals spotted smoke and flames rising from the building and alerted the fire services. Firefighters rushed to the site and launched an operation to control the inferno.
Despite hours of effort, the fire continued to rage with intensity. Large quantities of goods inside the supermarket were turned to ashes. Preliminary estimates suggest losses amounting to several lakhs.
The cause of the fire remains unclear. Fire personnel continue their efforts to fully extinguish the flames. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.
