The promotional campaign for the 20th Grand Toshali Swadeshi Mela kicked off today with the launch of a publicity chariot from Ekamra Haat in Bhubaneswar.
Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta inaugurated the event as the chief guest and flagged off the chariot, which will tour major cities, including Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Puri, Sambalpur, and Brahmapur, to generate awareness about the upcoming fair.
The 20th Grand Toshali Swadeshi Mela is scheduled to take place from February 14 to 26 at Janata Maidan, Bhubaneswar. This year’s theme is “Swadeshi and Atmanirbhar,” with a total of 840 stalls showcasing indigenous handicrafts, handlooms, and local products.
The launch ceremony was attended by Padma Shri Prabhakar Maharana, Padma Shri Ileana Citaristi, Commissioner and Secretary of Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Department Guha Poonam Tapas Kumar, Director (Handlooms & Textiles, Textiles) Prem Chand Chaudhary, Director (Handicrafts) Nivedita Prusti, Additional Secretary Pratap Chandra Hota, Managing Director of SERIFED and Additional Secretary Vikramaditya Barik, Member Secretary of SIDAC Chinmayi Biswal, Deputy Secretary Subrat Kumar Behera, and other senior officials.
