Following the sudden demise of legendary actor Nana Patekar on Thursday morning, the government has announced that the late Padma Shri recipient will be accorded a full state funeral with full police honours.
The 75-year-old cinema icon passed away in the early hours of October 8 at Manipal Hospital in Dona Paula, Goa, after suffering a severe cardiac arrest at his residence.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in expressing grief over the passing of the iconic performer, praising his unmatched intensity, versatility, and dedication to social causes through the NAAM Foundation.
“Deeply pained by the passing of Nana Patekar Ji. He was a powerhouse of Indian cinema whose versatile performances captivated generations of viewers. His passionate work for social welfare and farmer welfare will always be remembered. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti,” the Prime Minister shared.
Film Industry In Grief: Akshay Kumar, Co-Stars Remember Legend
Long-time co-star and friend Akshay Kumar, who worked alongside Patekar in blockbusters including Welcome and Housefull 5, expressed deep shock and sorrow at the news:
“Loss for words today. Nana Bhai was not just a phenomenal actor, but an institution of raw talent and absolute honesty. Working with him was always an masterclass. Rest in peace, Nana Bhai. You will be missed immensely.”

Final Rites and Funeral Arrangements
Arrangements are being made to transfer the late actor’s mortal remains from Goa to Mumbai, where fans and film fraternity members will pay their last respects before the state funeral takes place with full official protocol.
