Three sisters died in Ghaziabad after allegedly jumping from the ninth floor of a high-rise, leaving behind notes, a crying caricature, and a message of apology.

The girls, aged 16, 14, and 12, lived with their father, a forex trader, and their mothers. According to police, the eldest was born to the trader’s first wife, while the younger two were born to the second wife.

Around 12:30 am on Wednesday, the sisters entered the puja room, locked it from inside, and used a chair to jump one after another from the window. They died instantly. Guards and residents on the ground floor heard the noise and alerted the family and police. The bodies were later sent for autopsy.

Assistant Police Commissioner Atul Kumar Singh said the sisters were highly obsessed with a Korean task-based online game. They reportedly believed they were Korean princesses and not Indian. Investigators found multiple notes in a diary, including a crying caricature and repeated apologies.

Police revealed that the girls often followed routines together, even going to the bathroom at the same time. Their family knew about their gaming addiction and tried to restrict mobile use, but the sisters managed to regain access.

Singh noted that the addiction developed after the Covid-19 pandemic. The eldest, despite being 16, was still studying in Class 4. Police will now analyse their mobile phones to gather more details about the game.

The incident highlights growing concerns about online gaming addiction among children and its potential impact on mental health and family life.
