Police recovered the dead body of a 28-year-old man from the roadside near Lahanda village under the Joda police station limits in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Sunday evening. The deceased has been identified as Mihir Das, a resident of Bachu Hating in Joda town.
Authorities were alerted to the scene and promptly retrieved the body, which was then sent to the local hospital for a postmortem. Initial observations suggest foul play, prompting an immediate investigation.
According to police sources, Mihir had ventured out for a picnic with a group of 10 to 12 friends earlier that day. However, what was meant to be a leisurely outing took a tragic turn. Family members of the deceased have lodged strong allegations, claiming that Mihir was deliberately murdered during the excursion. These claims were highlighted by Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Prashant Kumar Samal, who confirmed that the police are treating the case with utmost seriousness.
“The family has accused Mihir’s companions or unknown assailants of orchestrating the murder,” IIC Samal stated. “We have registered a case based on their complaint and have begun a thorough probe into the circumstances surrounding his death.”
