Ukraine reported that Russia launched over 100 drones overnight, targeting the capital and several regions.
According to Ukraine’s air force, 119 drones were deployed, with 71 successfully intercepted in various regions, including Kyiv. The drone attacks caused damage in six regions, with details yet to be disclosed.
This wave of drone attacks follows deadly strikes in eastern and northeastern Ukraine on Friday and Saturday, which resulted in the deaths of at least 14 individuals. Among the incidents, a glide bomb attack in the town of Druzhkivka in the Donetsk region left 12 people, including a 15-year-old girl, wounded. The attack damaged residential buildings, multi-story blocks of flats, and a café.
In a related development, Russia claimed that Ukraine launched 131 drones on its Belgorod region, with 101 being shot down. No casualties were reported, according to Belgorod’s governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov.
Amid escalating tensions, Ukraine is scheduled to hold negotiations with U.S. officials in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. The discussions aim to forge a ceasefire and a framework for a peace agreement following the U.S. decision to freeze arms shipments to Kyiv and block access to intelligence reports and satellite imagery.
