The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha conducted a crucial state-level workers’ meeting on Thursday, tasking leaders with significantly expanding the party’s influence at the panchayat level in preparation for the upcoming rural local body elections.

Chaired by state president Manmohan Samal at the party’s state headquarters, the meeting saw the participation of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, state in-charge Vijay Pal Singh Tomar, state general secretary (organisation) Manas Kumar Mohanty, MLAs, district presidents, district in-charges, and former assembly candidates.

Party sources said leaders were instructed to actively reach out to voters, aggressively highlight the public welfare schemes of both the central and state BJP governments, and strengthen grassroots organisation. Special emphasis was laid on enrolling new members inspired by the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

State general secretary Biranchi Narayan Tripathy, briefing the media, said the meeting reviewed organisational matters in detail — from booth-level structures to the formation of district, mandal, and various frontal committees — and prepared a timeline for their swift completion.

Priority was given to the effective implementation of the “VB G RAM G” scheme aimed at the welfare and upliftment of the poor at the village level. Tripathy stressed that the BJP remains perpetually election-ready, and the meeting formulated an action plan for the upcoming polls.
