Rayagada district witnessed a shocking incident on Tuesday when Santosh Kumar Behera, headmaster of Kadambaguda Upper Primary School, was brutally attacked with an axe.
Reports confirm that Behera was returning home after school hours when Bhaskar Bag of Kadambaguda village assaulted him. The attacker struck Behera on his back with a sharp axe, leaving him severely injured.
Locals rushed him to the Ambadala Community Health Centre, where doctors provided initial treatment. Due to heavy bleeding and his critical condition, he was later shifted to Kalahandi for advanced medical care.
Police from Ambadala station have begun investigating the case. However, the motive behind the attack remains unclear. Authorities are questioning witnesses and gathering evidence to determine the reason for the assault.
