The Works Department reviewed four major road projects aimed at strengthening Odisha’s transport network and accelerating development.

Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh chaired the meeting at the Departmental Conference Hall, directing officials to fast‑track execution and clearances.

The review focused on the proposed 111‑kilometre Capital Region Ring Road around Bhubaneswar. Singh instructed engineers to expedite land acquisition and obtain forest and environmental clearances at the earliest.

Officials also discussed measures to decongest traffic in Cuttack city. Plans are underway for a new Greenfield road from Dhakulei Peetha to Kandarpur, which will directly connect Bhubaneswar with Jagatsinghpur and Paradip. Once completed, the road will bypass Cuttack, reducing travel distance and time significantly.

The meeting further examined the widening and land acquisition for the 206‑kilometre Koraput–Mohana road. Similarly, officials reviewed the upgradation and widening of the Khordha–Nayagarh road, with instructions to execute work strictly as per the approved DPR.

Engineer‑in‑Chief‑cum‑Special Secretary Lakshmikant Padhi, Regional Officer of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways Sunil Kumar, Chief Engineer (National Highways, Odisha), and other senior officers attended the meeting.

Principal Secretary Singh reiterated that the vision of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Minister Prithviraj Harichandan is to provide a robust road network connecting all major regions of the state.
