Airfield police foiled a major armed robbery plan today and arrested six accused from Aryan Nagar, Sundarpada.
The accused were plotting the crime inside a dark, abandoned room of Duplex Building No. 50 when police raided the spot.
Acting on a tip-off, the Airfield police station officer dispatched a special team early in the morning. The team conducted a surprise raid and apprehended all six accused. During the search, police seized a large cache of deadly weapons and materials intended for the robbery.
The seized items include a sword, an iron chapad, katuri, knives, iron rods, lathis, wire cutters, screwdrivers, ropes, packets of chilli powder, seven mobile phones, empty magazines, liquor bottles, disposable glasses, and cigarette butts.
During interrogation, the accused admitted they were preparing to commit armed robbery in nearby areas. Police also discovered that two of the accused had previous criminal records:
- Kalu Charan Nayak had earlier cases registered at Sorada and Nayapalli police stations.
- Rahul Majhi had cases registered at Capital and Nayapalli police stations.

Police produced the accused in court and confirmed that further investigation is underway.
