In a determined effort to enhance road safety and enforce traffic discipline, the Central Range Police, Cuttack, conducted a special enforcement drive titled “Operation JEEVAN RAKSHA” on January 12, 2026.

The day-long operation targeted commercial buses, heavy transport vehicles, and other motor vehicles at high-traffic and vulnerable locations across seven districts under its jurisdiction.

The drive focused on detecting violations such as rash driving, overloading, non-compliance with safety norms, and other traffic offences. Police teams conducted systematic checks to deter negligent behaviour and promote stricter adherence to road rules.

District-wise results highlight the scale of the operation:

  • In Puri District, 495 vehicles were checked, resulting in fines totalling ₹3,12,500.
  • Kendrapara District saw 160 vehicles checked with ₹33,000 in fines imposed.
  • Jajpur District recorded 184 vehicles checked and ₹29,500 collected.
  • Nayagarh District checked 425 vehicles, realising ₹79,000 in fines.
  • Jagatsinghpur District checked 128 vehicles and collected ₹16,000.
  • In Cuttack District, checks were conducted at Kantapada and Parsurampura, where 5 commercial buses were inspected.
  • Khordha District focused checks near Godipada Toll Plaza under Jankia Police Station, inspecting 4 heavy/transport vehicles.

In total, 1,401 vehicles were checked across the Central Range. Of these, 12 commercial buses and 8 heavy/transport vehicles received special attention. The operation generated ₹4,70,000 in fines.

The Central Range Police reiterated its commitment to protecting lives on the road, urging all motorists to follow traffic rules, wear seat belts and helmets, avoid overspeeding and drunken driving, and cooperate with enforcement agencies. Authorities stated that similar drives will continue regularly to ensure public safety and reduce road accidents.
