Noted litterateur and linguist Nrusingha Charan Sarangi will receive the Byasakabi Fakir Mohan Samman 2021 for his outstanding contribution to the Odia language and literature.
The Odia Language, Literature, and Culture Department announced the honour through an official notification. Moreover, the department recognised Sarangi’s lifelong dedication to Odia literature, his scholarly research, and his role in strengthening the Odia language. His works demonstrate a deep commitment to cultural preservation and literary excellence.
The award ceremony will take place on January 14 in Bhubaneswar during the birth anniversary celebration of Fakir Mohan Senapati. At the event, the department will confer the Bayasakabi Fakir Mohan Samman on Sarangi and present him with a prize of five lakh rupees.
Furthermore, Sarangi’s literary journey highlights his passion for the Odia language and culture. His writings showcase the richness of Odia heritage and inspire younger generations to value their mother tongue. In addition, his recognition through the Bayasakabi Fakir Mohan Samman emphasises his role as a scholar and creative writer who shaped modern Odia literature through research and expression.
