A tragic road accident in Nuapada district claimed three lives and left four others critically injured when a car lost balance and crashed into a tree near Haripur under Komna police station limits on Thursday.
According to reports, seven youths from Komna were travelling in a car (registration number OD26G8489) to Khariar. While returning, the vehicle lost control near Haripur village and rammed into a roadside tree. Two passengers died instantly at the accident site.
Komna police reached the spot after receiving information and, with the help of locals, rescued five injured youths. They were rushed to Komna hospital, where doctors declared one more youth dead. The remaining four were shifted to Nuapada District Headquarters Hospital in critical condition.
The deceased were identified as Abraham Ali, Mehfuz Khan, and Adnam Ali. All three belonged to the same extended family. Sources revealed that Mehfuz and Adnam had recently come from Mumbai to visit relatives in Komna. The victims were aged between 22 and 25 years.
Following post-mortem examinations, authorities handed over the bodies to family members. Police seized the vehicle involved in the accident and confirmed that further investigation is underway. Komna police station officer Rashmita Pradhan stated that the case will be thoroughly examined to determine the cause of the crash.
