In a significant move to streamline land-related services, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari announced further reforms aimed at making government land administration more accessible and efficient through online platforms.
The initiative focuses on digitising land records, geo-referencing village maps, and facilitating online land registration and service delivery.
During a high-level meeting held at Lok Seva Bhawan, Minister Pujari, along with Additional Chief Secretary of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh, engaged in detailed discussions with Rajiv Chawla, a consultant from the Union Ministry of Agriculture. The meeting explored strategies to enhance land record modernisation and integrate revenue services with agricultural programs.
Chawla shared insights from Karnataka’s successful Agrostack initiative, a collaborative effort between the state’s revenue and agriculture departments. He highlighted best practices in land record digitisation and joint programs that have improved efficiency and transparency in land management.
In response, ACS Singh outlined Odisha’s ongoing special campaign for amending Record of Rights (RoR) entries, particularly the second volume, alongside other reformative measures. He emphasised the state’s progress in computerising land records, online registration services, and the introduction of various digital initiatives to strengthen land record management systems.
Minister Pujari reiterated the state government’s commitment to providing seamless and doorstep services to Odisha residents. “We are prioritising the modernisation of land records, updating cadastral maps with geo-referencing, digitising all revenue records, and ensuring systematic online service delivery,” he stated. This effort aims to make land-related processes more user-friendly and transparent, reducing bureaucratic hurdles for citizens.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including Principal Secretary of the Agriculture Department Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Director of Agriculture Subham Saxena, Director of Land Records and Surveys, Director of Survey of India, senior scientists from the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and Odisha Space Applications Centre (ORSAC), as well as senior officers from the Revenue and Disaster Management Department.
This push for reforms aligns with broader national goals to digitise land administration, potentially setting a model for other states in integrating technology with governance for better public service delivery.
