Grant Fisher set a new world record in the 3,000 meters at the 2025 Millrose Games, finishing with a time of 7:22.91.

Defending Olympic 1,500-meter champion Cole Hocker secured second place with a time of 7:23.14, also surpassing the previous all-time record of 7:23.81 set by Ethiopia’s Lamecha Girma in 2023.

Fisher shattered the previous American record of 7:28.23, which was held by Yared Nuguse since 2023. He had previously ranked third on the U.S. All-Time list, behind Galen Rupp.

Jimmy Gressier finished in third place, setting a new French national record with a time of 7:30.18, while Ky Robinson came in fourth, establishing a new Australian national record at 7:30.38.

Throughout the race, Hocker remained composed and relaxed behind Fisher. With three laps to go, he made a move to take the lead, but Fisher stayed right behind him.

On the final lap, Fisher attempted to overtake Hocker on the backstretch but was unable to do so. As they rounded the final turn, Fisher went wide again and successfully passed Hocker, winning the race.

Fisher now holds the indoor American records for both the 3,000 meters and the 2 miles. He is set to target the 5,000-meter American record at the BU David Hemery Valentine Invite next Friday, February 14. To achieve this, he will need to beat the time of 12:51.61, which was set by his teammate Woody Kincaid in 2023.
