Police arrested two persons, including the prime accused and a minor, in connection with the rape of a tribal minor girl in Sambalpur district.
The incident took place on November 29, around 4:30 pm. Soon after, the survivor’s family lodged a written complaint at Redhakhol police station. Consequently, the police registered a case and immediately launched an investigation.
Investigators identified the accused as Pramod Pradhan of Arakhakud village under Tribanpur Gram Panchayat and another minor, whose identity remains withheld. According to the complaint, the younger sister was assaulted while waiting by the roadside to accompany her elder sister returning from college. Meanwhile, police reported that the elder sister also faced an attempted assault but managed to escape.
Later, Redhakhol SDPO Prashant Kumar Meher confirmed that police arrested both accused and produced them in court on Monday.
However, Pradhan claimed that the allegations were motivated by earlier disputes. At the same time, police stated that investigations are ongoing to establish the facts.
