Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will inaugurate the Konark Festival and International Sand Art Festival today, marking the start of a five-day celebration of Odisha’s rich cultural heritage.
The event, scheduled from December 1 to 5, brings together classical dance, music, and sand art in a vibrant showcase.

The Konark Festival unfolds at the Muktakash Rangamanch, an open-air theatre near the Sun Temple. Audiences will witness performances of Odissi, Kathakali, Kuchipudi, Manipuri, Bharatanatyam, and Kathak, highlighting India’s diverse classical traditions. Each evening promises a unique blend of rhythm, storytelling, and artistry that reflects the depth of Indian culture.
Meanwhile, the International Sand Art Festival takes place at Chandrabhaga beach. Renowned sand artists from across India and abroad create stunning sculptures on themes ranging from mythology to contemporary issues. Their creations transform the beach into a gallery of imagination and skill.
Organisers confirm that preparations are complete and that arrangements have been made to welcome large crowds. The Odisha Tourism Department emphasises that the festivals not only celebrate art and culture but also boost tourism and showcase Odisha’s global appeal.
