In a stern action against dereliction of duty, the Block Education Officer (BEO) of Harabhanga block in Odisha’s Boudh district has withheld one day’s salary from ten teachers belonging to eight different government schools.
The decision was taken after surprise inspections conducted on November 27, 2025, revealed serious lapses, including unauthorised absence from school, leaving the campus early without permission, failure to conduct scheduled assessments, and non-maintenance of lesson notes and teaching-learning materials.
A formal office order issued by Harabhanga BEO Hadibandhu Behera on November 27 listed the names of the erring teachers along with specific violations observed during the unannounced visits.
The order directed the respective headmasters to deduct one day’s salary from each of the ten teachers and deposit the amount into the government treasury.
