During the Odisha Assembly’s winter session, Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Minister Nityananda Gond informed the House that more than 7 lakh beneficiaries are still waiting for pension benefits across the state.
The minister stated that under the Madhu Babu Pension Yojana, 7,11,123 beneficiaries remain pending. In addition, 17,606 cases are awaiting approval under the National Social Security Pension Scheme.
Currently, Odisha provides pension benefits to 56,18,000 beneficiaries across various schemes. However, the large number of pending applications has raised concerns about the timely delivery of social security support to vulnerable groups.
Gond assured the Assembly that the government is reviewing the situation and working to streamline the process. He emphasised that efforts are underway to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive their pensions without delay.
