Odisha is set to host the Odisha Masters 2025 – BWF Tour Super 100 Tournament from 9 to 14 December at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Cuttack. The international badminton event will be jointly organised by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), Badminton Association of India (BAI), Odisha State Badminton Association, and the Sports & Youth Services Department, Government of Odisha.

This year marks the fourth edition of the Odisha Masters, reinforcing the state’s growing reputation as an emerging global sports hub.

During a press conference at the Kalinga Stadium, Sports Minister Suryabanshi Suraj shared details about the upcoming championship. Athletes from 22 countries—including India, Finland, Hong Kong China, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Israel, Japan, Spain, Egypt, Indonesia, the United States, Australia, England, Thailand, Bulgaria, Chinese Taipei, UAE, Uganda, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Russia, and Bangladesh—will participate.

More than 400 players are expected to compete across five categories:

  • Men’s Singles

  • Women’s Singles

  • Men’s Doubles

  • Women’s Doubles

  • Mixed Doubles

Several top-ranked international shuttlers are anticipated to participate, promising a high-energy and competitive tournament.

Ahead of the Odisha Masters, the 37th Sub-Junior National Badminton Championship will be held at the Kalinga Stadium from 1 to 6 December in the Under-15 and Under-17 categories. Nearly 750 young athletes from various states and Union Territories—including 25 players from Odisha—will take part.

Highlighting the state’s strengthening presence in global sports, the Minister noted that Odisha has successfully hosted events such as the World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze and the Asian Table Tennis Championship. Hosting the Odisha Masters will further advance the state’s commitment to sports development and enhance its international stature.

Odisha State Badminton Association President Rajesh Prabhakar Patil expressed pride in Odisha hosting another major international event, noting that it will inspire emerging badminton talent across the state.

Sports & Youth Services Commissioner-cum-Secretary Sachin Ramchandra Jadhav stated that Odisha has established a distinct identity in the global sports arena through consistent hosting of international competitions.

The event also featured the unveiling of the official tournament logo, while the mascot “Olly” made a vibrant appearance, energising sports enthusiasts ahead of the championship.
