The Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association announced the withdrawal of its strike call scheduled from December 1. The association confirmed the decision after holding discussions with the Transport Department.
Officials assured bus operators that police checking measures would not be enforced in a way that disrupts services. The government also agreed to further examine proposals and conduct detailed reviews before implementing new regulations.
The association’s secretary informed that the strike call was suspended following these assurances. He added that the decision reflects a willingness to cooperate with the government while ensuring smooth transport services for passengers.
Earlier, the association had declared a statewide bus strike beginning December 1 to protest certain enforcement measures. However, after negotiations, both sides reached an understanding to avoid inconvenience to commuters.
The association emphasised that it will continue discussions with the Transport Department to resolve pending issues. It also assured passengers that bus services will operate normally from December 1.
