What was expected to be a celebratory wedding weekend for Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana and filmmaker-composer Palaash Muchhal has taken an unexpected turn. The couple, who were scheduled to marry on November 23 in Sangli, Maharashtra, postponed their wedding indefinitely after Mandhana’s father, Shriniwas Mandhana, was hospitalised following symptoms reportedly linked to a heart attack.
Within a day, Palaash Muchhal was also admitted to a hospital in Sangli after a sudden health scare and was later shifted to a medical facility in Mumbai.
Amid the unfolding events, fans noticed that Mandhana had quietly removed several posts from her Instagram feed, including her engagement photos and a proposal video, prompting speculation across social platforms.
On Tuesday, social media witnessed a surge of reactions after unverified screenshots allegedly showing private messages between Muchhal and another woman began circulating online. The images were first shared by an Instagram user named Mary D’Costa, later resurfacing on Reddit. The Instagram account that originally posted the screenshots has since been deactivated.
News outlets have not independently verified the authenticity of these screenshots, and their accuracy remains unconfirmed.
The alleged messages, reportedly dated May 2025, appear to show Muchhal inviting the woman for a swim and responding evasively when questioned about his relationship status. The images quickly went viral, leading to intense online discussion.
On Reddit and X (formerly Twitter), reactions ranged from disappointment and shock to calls for caution.
One user commented, “Felt the ick just reading through these… the shamelessness in people.”
